Dreadnought
Dreadnought is the most common size in guitars and, arguably, the most versatile of the entire guitar family. The name "dreadnought" comes from the old British battleships, which sailors called "dreadnoughts." Typically featuring larger bodies, dreadnoughts project well, have exceptional bass response, and are ideal for general accompaniment and flat-picking. Even unamplified, a "dreadnought" will generally be loud enough for a small to medium sized audience.
Classical
Classical instruments are easily identifiable, due to their nylon or "gut" strings, medium body size and slotted headstocks. The romance that guitarists have with the nylon string (or Spanish-style) guitar dates back to the late 1700s, and the sound of a nylon string being played by a master is a truly moving experience even today. Our Classical guitars are designed for a variety of player levels and budgets, but all offer the same high level of craftsmanship and sonic purity. Get in touch with your heart-strings, and play a Clayton classical guitar today.
Acoustic Electric
Whether playing for an audience of one or one thousand, our Acoustic/Electrics are designed to project your sound in its most natural form. Designed to amplify the superb sound of our guitars without any added coloration, the Alvarez System 600T Mk II preamp/EQ lets the wood do the talking. So natural sounding, you may forget you're plugged in.
Mandolin
Most commonly featured in traditional American bluegrass music, the mandolin has made significant inroads into mainstream music culture. The mandolin, which has eight strings tuned in pairs and originated in Italy, is a bluegrass/country music mainstay.
Bass
Our basses offer a great-sounding acoustic alternative for players who demand versatility. Perfect for acoustic gigs, rehearsals and campfire jamming, our acoustic basses deliver superior performance that fits right in with other acoustic stringed instruments
Folk
Folk guitars are a bit smaller than dreadnoughts and tend to project a much more articulate and balanced tone. This makes them ideal for recording environments. They excel as finger-picking instruments and travel well, also due to the smaller size.
